Backup Database

Menu: File ~ Backup Database
Button Panel: n/a

A ZIP compatible backup process is built-in to Kwik-Pay. It will create a compressed backup file on floppy disk or on the hard disk. When backing up to a floppy disk, it will automatically request a second and subsequent diskettes when each diskette fills up.

It is recommended that you backup the payroll after you have completed each pay period. Keep at least three separate sets of disks for the backup and backup to a different set each time. Restore backup files

Files to Backup

When Current Database is selected, only the current open payroll database will be backed up.

When Selected Database is selected, all the MDB files in the current directory will be selected for backup. You can remove files from the list by clicking on the file name to high light it, and then clicking the Delete button. You can add files from other directories to the list by clicking the Add button. This will display a file open window through which you can select the file to add to the backup list.

Backup destination

This will default to the name of a ZIP file on the A: diskette drive. You can change either the destination drive and directory - this could be a directory on the hard dirve if you wish; and the name of the backup file to be created. You may wish to change the file name so it includes the date of the backup. Although, that is not necessary as the file date is updated when the backup is run.

The Browse button will allow you to select the destination drive and path more easily.

Start Backup

Click the Backup button to start the backup. Note that if a backup file already exists in the destination directory it will be updated with the databases selected for this backup.
