Internet Filing (United Kingdom only)
Menu: Activities ~ Internet Filing
Button Panel: n/a
This process allows you to monitor and manage the submission of Internet Filing files to HMRC. It does not create any files for submission itself, but shows you what has been submitted and the results. See P35 Report for information on creating an End Of Year file or P45 Report for information on creating an in-year movements file.
Depending on the current state of a file, you will be able to view the contents, poll the HMRC web site to check if it has been processed, and view the HMRC response.
The 'Internet Filing' column lists each of the files transmitted to HMRC.
The status column indicates the current status of the file:
- Not Sent The message to send to the HMRC has been created but it has not yet been sent to them
- Sent The message has been sent to HMRC but no response has been received. It is likely that a problem has occured. Try the List button to see if a message has been received by them
- Polling A Poll request has been sent to HMRC, but no reply has been received. It is likely HMRC did not receive the poll request.
- Receipt Acknowledeged The last message sent to HMRC has been received. Note, this does not indicate the file has been accepted, only that it has been received and is being processed.
- Fatal Error The message has been rejected due to an error in the format of the message. Click the Errors button to see a list of errors associated with the message.
- Business Error The message has been rejected due to a validation error with the content of the message. Click the Errors button to see a list of errors associated with the message.
- Accepted The message has been processed without error and accepted by HMRC
- Delete Requested You have requested the message be deleted, but no response has been received from HMRC. It is likely that the delete request has not been received by them.
- Delete Acknowledeged You have requested the message be deleted, and HMRC has received the request.
- Delete Response The message has been confirmed as deleted by HMRC
Click on the 'Error' button to see a list of error messages received from HMRC about a selected internet filing message.
To view a list of internet filing messages in progress at HMRC click the 'List' button.
After HMRC has completed processing an internet filing message, you can click the 'Delete' button to delete the message and it's log file from you local hard drive, and it will also send a delete request to HMRC to request them to delete the message in their system. They delete their messages anyway 30 days after they have been processed.
